In educational psychology and cognitive science, learning transfer is the phenomenon in which learning, knowledge, or skills from one context are leveraged in another. Based on preliminary findings in the Work Learn design-based intervention research study, Next Level Lab researchers Tessa Forshaw, Isabella Capeci and Mari Longmire identified ten key moves associated with successful transfer in learners taking on a new role at work. The materials below include a dialogue-based intervention for a coach and a learner to talk through what these key moves look like in the learner’s new context, along with a coaches’ guide with instructional notes. For further information about the concept learning transfer at work, we recommend reading the research brief linked in the additional materials.
