Mohsen Moghaddam is an Assistant Professor of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering and an Affiliated Faculty with Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University in Boston. He earned his PhD from Purdue University and served the GE-Purdue Partnership in Research and Innovation in Advanced Manufacturing as a Postdoctoral Associate prior to joining Northeastern in 2018. Mohsen’s research is focused on developing innovative methods, tools, and technologies at the intersection of artificial intelligence, extended reality, and human-centered computing to augment learning and creativity in an array of cognitive and psychomotor intensive tasks in industrial settings. He actively collaborates with several faculty members and research groups both within Northeastern University and beyond, engaging in a wide range of convergent disciplines spanning from learning sciences and psychology to social sciences, economics, business, design, and computer science. Mohsen has co-authored dozens of peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, and has also served as a guest editor for the ASME Journal of Mechanical Design. In addition to his academic pursuits, he is a co-founder and currently serves as the Acting CTO of ADA Tech (Advanced Design Augmentation Technologies), a startup dedicated to developing AI tools that empower designers to create diverse, innovative, and user-centered products. His research is sponsored by the National Science Foundation, Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, the U.S. Navy, Northeastern University, and industry.
