Hwa Pyung is a PhD student at the Harvard Graduate School of Education researching the ways that transnationalism is shifting educational priorities. As a Doctoral Research Assistant at the Next Level Lab, Hwa supported research on Intelligence Augmentation and the Negotiation Skills Initiative. Prior to Harvard, Hwa worked as an evaluation specialist conducting research for projects including the Education Commission’s Innovative Pedagogy Project in Kenya, the UNDP and OPHI’s Global Multidimensional Poverty Index 2.0, and most recently, an equity audit for the Montgomery County Public School. Previously, Hwa has worked as a language teacher in Spain and South Korea. In 2019, he co-founded a non-profit, Enspire Korea, which provides free arts-based English lessons for disadvantaged youth in Seoul. Hwa received a B.S. in Cognitive Neuroscience at Villanova University and an M.A. in International Development at the Paris School of International Affairs, Sciences Po.
