Next Level Lab Role: Visiting Scholar

Eileen McGivney is an Assistant Professor of XR Technologies and Education Innovation at Northeastern University’s College of Art, Media and Design. Her research focuses on the potential and challenges of learning with immersive technologies such as virtual reality, particularly for people of diverse identities and cultural backgrounds. As a doctoral student at HGSE and researcher in the Next Level Lab, she conducted studies of VR field trips in high school STEM classrooms and VR simulations to support vulnerable jobseekers. She remains affiliated with HGSE as a Visiting Scholar, and in this role she continues to partner with researchers and students at the Next Level Lab on projects investigating learning with VR. Prior to Harvard, she worked as a research associate at the Center for Universal Education at Brookings and as a research assistant at the Education Reform Initiative in Istanbul, Turkey.
