Featuring Debrief Discussion with Tessa Forshaw and Beca Driscoll
Policymakers, education institutions, commercial organizations, and workforce development providers are increasingly promoting apprenticeships and other work-based learning programs to address professional and technical skilling needs. Yet, many of these programs act as recruiting pipeline strategies and fail to consider them as learning experiences. While traditional models of apprenticeship offer a foundation for these programs, a revival that considers the many differences between traditional crafts apprenticeship programs and modern ones is needed. This session, co-designed by Accenture and the Next Level Lab, will propose a Pedagogy of Modern Apprenticeship that draws upon learning sciences research about how we learn in situ and mix that with practical lessons learned from implementation.
The first component of this module consists of two readings: a Case Study and a Resource Guide. There is time built into the schedule to complete this on the day of the workshop, but you are also welcome to review the materials in advance.
