The Human-AI Partnership: How We Can Develop Workers to Complement Machines and Algorithms

This session will provide an overview of the changing nature of work—particularly with respect to the division between human judgment and the calculative and predictive capabilities of machines (called “reckoning”)—and the implications these changes will have on the skills for which we train. Participants will read two multi-sector examples highlighting the shifting division of labor between humans and machines and come prepared to discuss the human side of the human-AI partnership: What does the human bring to the equation that is unique? And how might we train for these skills in our teams?

Materials to Complete Prior to Live Session:

The pre-work for this session an entails an introductory video (20 minutes) and two short readings with guiding questions which will be revisited during the synchronous discussion.

2) What does the human bring to the equation that is unique?
3) What stood out in the two examples you read?
